Parts and Things - Team 37 Race Team

Team 37 is a group of Friends that have traveled together through out the years. While we just like to have fun because of the hard economic times we have decided to make a trip with a purpose. We are doing the HILL CLIMB FOR HUNGER. at the Newport Hill Climb Oct. 2nd - 4th, 2009 in Newport, Indiana
Countdown til the 2009 Newport Antique Auto Hill Climb
Friday Sept 4th
I can't believe it. It's the 1st Friday of the month and time for the Memories Car Club cruise. I couldn't wait for time to head that way seemed like it took forever then finally Big Al came down and inserted my key gave it a gentle turn to the right and pressed my starter. I cranked a few times and fired up. We sat there for a minute or so to warm my oil and get all my juices flowing then off we went. Big Al's wife Jackie followed us to the cruise site in their Sonoma pickup just to make sure that I didn't have any problems on the way.
When we got to the cruise spot about 4 pm they couldn't decide where I should park, one was saying park here another was saying no you can't park there. I could tell that Big Al was getting aggrivated and was about to leave me in the middle of the drive so I decided to get out of the flow and backed in a space between a sweet looking red Chevy pickup and this cute little 36 Ford with her top down, man I was in heaven.
It was a beautiful night that you would have thought was in the middle of October and not the 1st of September which is the end of "The Dog Days of Summer" and normally very warm or darn right hot. Even though it was Labor Day weekend and the last big fling of the summer there was still a large crowd. Now that I have over a 1,000 signatures and sayings on my body I really draw attention to myself which is good because that helps to get more people to sign on me. As it turned out this was the best night we have had all summer. This was the last cruise before we head for the hill climb not that we are going to just sit around till then the boys have plans for me each weekend between now and then. Next weekend we will be in Cuba, Mo for the annual Lion's Club Car Show. This one will be a real test as they are going to drive me all the way there and it's about 60 miles one way.
About 9 the crowd was dispersing so we fired up and headed to the Red Robyn for a burger. Well I don';t eat burgers but Big Al, Mr T, Dale and the crew all got a bite to eat. It's now about 10:30 so we headed back to the Murphy Flats garage
Saturday Sept 12th
The big race is less than a month away so the boys decided to see if I would be able to make the trip to Newport on my own so off to Cuba, Mo we went. Denny was at the helm. We went out Hwy 30 in order to stay off the interstate. I got to Dittmer and started to have hot flashes. They stopped and gave me a cool drinkof water. This perked me up a little but I still didn't feel 100%. When you looked in my radiator it looked like I had been coughing up fur balls. We kept going but when I got to St Clair I just couldn't go any further. While they were trying to figure out how to get me home Hoot came by and offered us the use of his trailer. They loaded me on the trailer and offwe went to Murphy. Monday they took my radiator out and had it rodded out, what ever that means, you should have seen the fur balls that they got out of my radiator and block. You would think I had been eating a rug. I can'tsay for sure but I think so critter my his home in my engine. It's now Thursday and I'm feeling much better. Maybe I can go to the Roadhouse this weekend.
