Countdown til the 2009 Newport Antique Auto Hill Climb
Friday June 5th
Whoopee it's the 1st Friday in June and I get to go to the Memories cruise. I like goin' there, the people are friendly and many of them want to sign my body or draw spider webs on my door.
Saturday June 13th
Mr. T drove me to Pevely to the Dairy Queen. Man talk about a workout, he ran me long and hard and I think I'm getting too old for this so in order to take a little rest I ran out of gas. That got me about a 20 minute rest. Then on the way home T drove me like I was the redheaded step child, I'm too old for this and he is going to cause me to have a heart attack.
One week day evening
I've been trying to tell them for a while that my starter was not right by giving suttle hints. Well that didn't seem to work they, the boys, just ignored me like I didn't know what I was talking about. I thought about getting their attention on the road by totally puking the starter but thought better of it as I didn't want to get left sitting on the side of the road or who knows where over night so I dumped the starter in Denny's driveway about 8 o'clock at night hehe
Okay now I have a new starter or should I say a different starter, these guys don't know what new is they keep replacing my broken and worn out parts with more 72 year old parts. The next weekend I got to go to Culver's in South County. I met some interesting people there and had a good time.
I think this weekend June 27th they are going to take me to Pacific for a car show. According to the weather man it's suppose to be 100 degrees so I guess I'll be sitting out in the hot sun all day, maybe they will bring me a shade thingee I can sit under and I'll need plenty of fluids so I don't get dehydrated. Hope to see you there....
Saturday June 27th
It's early Saturday morning and Mr. T comes out and fires me up telling me we're on our way to Pacific so we can get a good parking spot. We swung by the Murphy Flats garage and picked up Denny and his 37 sedan so I would have some company on the road trip. When we got to Pacific they gave us a real nice spot on the corner of 3rd & St. Louis. The boys may need to take me to the gynecologist, I think I might be starting minipaws. I'm leaking from spots that shouldn't be leaking and they had to set a bucket under me so I didn't soil the street.
These guys are getting pretty serious about filling my body with signatures and one liners. At some events I had Bob "The Pitchman" who would get people to sign my body. Now they have contracted with Mark Aubuchen who is a salesman by trade and can he work a crowd. Put him and Bob together and the people didn't have a chance. Guess the boys didn't think I looked so good so they spruced me up a little by putting some stainless trim on my hood. It was pretty hot down there and I was sweating a little so they put one of the tents over me, the shade was a welcome addition.
The crowd at the Pacific show this year was small compared to previous years but still the people that were there were very generous and it turned out to be the best day to date. Night fell and it was finally time to go home, somehow they, the boys, managed to get more cars there than there were drivers. So they talked Bob "The Pitchman" into driving me to the Murphy Flats garage. I guess it was pretty uneventful as I don't remember a thing, I was so tired. Remember I started this little adventure at 9 am this morning.
Now I need to rest up for the Memories cruise next weekend.
